The Verbracherzentrale NRW, the consumer watchdog for the German state of Nord Rhine-Westphalia, has criticised the price hike of basic analogue cable subscription fees by Unitymedia. From January 1, 2008, the monthly fee will be €17.90, an increase of €2.41 a month.
At the same time, basic digital will now cost one Euro less as part of the cabler’s scheme to turn all subscribers to digital. So far, Unitymedia claims its ‘Jetzt digital’ campaign is a success, with about 50,000 new digital subscribers added during the past four weeks.
