Canal Digital Group has reported increased revenues resulting from the expansion of its product portfolio and a higher number of subscribers. The Nordic pay-TV platform has exploited the multiroom concept and was an early promoter of HD technology.
According to new figures from parent Telenor Broadcast, the total number of DTH subscribers now stands at 935,000, an increase from 929,000 in the third quarter of 2006. Cable subscribers number 701,000, rising from 691,000.
However, increase in the cost of content and CRM costs led to a decrease both in EBITDA and the EBITDA margin. EBITDA in the quarter to September 30, 2007 was NOK203 million (€26.14m) from NOK268 on revenues of NOK1,431m (2006: NOK1,291).
The transmission and equipment division recorded revenues of NOK448 and an EBITDA of NOK259.
It has emerged that Telenor Broadcast has increased its ownership of Conax to 100%, paying NOK93 million for the 10% of the content protection company it did not already own.
Telenor Broadcast as a whole increased revenues by 12% in the third quarter to NOK1,763m. However, EBITDA fell to NOK 443m from NOK 485m in Q3 2006.
