From early next year the Premiere Thema bouquet will be available using Conax conditional access following an agreement between pay-TV operator Premiere and TechniSat. The German hardware manufacturer is selling integrated digital TV sets and satellite receivers with built-in Conax encryption, whose owners can now easily subscribe to Premiere Thema channels.
People who buy the equipment will receive Premiere Thema free of charge for a period of two months, after which they can buy a subscription directly from Premiere. At present Premiere is encrypted with Nagravision, but will also use Irdeto Cryptoworks to serve a large potential client base in Austria. The addition of Conax encryption will only apply to the Thema bouquet, not to the other Premiere DTH offers.
