GO has extended its digital terrestrial network in Malta and Gozo to cover 95% of households. Transmission quality has also been improved as part of the project that has cost €2.3 million.
The upgrade included the installation of new transmission facilities at the Naxxar Tower, Maghtab and a number of relay stations. An additional repeater has been installed in Nadur on the Island of Gozo.
David Kay, Chief Executive Officer of GO, said indoor coverage had now been greatly improved and that reception was also possible on boats in the area.
GO is looking to apply for new frequencies that will enable it to launch a high definition TV service.
