T-Systems Media GmbH is to build the new DVB-H network for mobile TV. The German Bundesnetzagentur has issued the necessary frequencies to the company. Building of the new networks is expected to start early 2008 with the first transmitter on the air in Hanover, just in time for the CeBIT conference and exhibition.
Fifteen major cities will have DVB-H transmitters before the end of next year, during 2009 all cities with at least 150,000 inhabitants will have access to mobile TV. In 2015 90% of the population should have been reached.
