Vodafone Portugal is considering making a bid to operate the country’s DTT service. According to local reports, CEO Antonio Coimbra is studying both this and the launch of an IPTV service, which could make its debut during 2008. Vodafone already has much of the ADSL infrastructure in place.
The decision now is whether to go it alone in a DTT bid or to join forces with another contender. Spanish telecommunications company Abertis Infraestructuras has already approached Portugal Telecom SGPS with a view to making a bid and PT Multimedia also remains in the frame.
Vodafone has sent its report to the communications regulator Anacom, which closes its consultation today.
