Skåne on the southern tip of Sweden has become the last region to complete the analogue switch off process. Station executives took transmissions from SVT’s two public channels and the commercial broadcaster TV4 off air. Transmission company Teracom expects a full digital TV service to be in place by 16.00 this afternoon (October 15).
ASO has taken place ahead of schedule, and was initially set for February 1, 2008, though cable operator Com Hem is making much of its ability to continue analogue transmissions indefinitely. The Baltic island of Gotland was first to phase out digital transmissions in September 2005.
