The Hungarian Competition Office (GVH) is reported to have given its approval to the sale of Tele2’s Hungarian business to Invitel. The deal, worth €4 million in cash, was announced as one undertaken by the Hungarian Telephone and Cable Corp (HTCC) in July. Since then, however, HTCC and its associated interests have started operating under the brand name Invitel – also the name of the alternative telco taken over by HTCC earlier this year. The acquisition of Tele2’s Hungarian business has increased Invitel’s customer base by nearly 500,000.
