UPC Poland sets digital launch date

October 10, 2007 11.50 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

UPC will launch a digital cable TV service in Poland in Q2 2008. Speaking to the local press, UPC Polska president Simon Boyd said it will be rolled out on a large scale and made available to the vast majority of subscribers in the 10 largest cities in which the operator is currently present. Although UPC remains the largest MSO in Poland with around a million subscribers, it has fallen behind its three main competitors – Multimedia Polska, Vectra and Aster – in the provision of such additional services as digital TV, VOD and HDTV channels.
