The two sides in Spain’s football rights dispute are meeting today to hammer out the details of coverage of the Spanish league. It follows the decision by a Madrid court judge that the agreement signed by Sogecable and rival Mediapro before the start of the season should be enforced.
The agreement allows for one game per week to be broadcast free-to-air on Mediapro’s La Sixta with the remaining matches available to Sogecable to exploit either on pay-per-view or the local version of premium Canal+.
The judge ruled that La Sixta’s illegal transmissions of matches previously allocated to the pay broadcaster should stop.
