October 8, 2007 11.30 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Vodafone has announced the acquisition of Tele2 Italia and Tele2 Telecommunications Services from Tele2 AB for €775 million. The deal, which is subject to regulatory approval and is likely to be completed by the end of the year, will give it access to the rapidly growing broadband markets of Italy and Spain. According to Vodafone, broadband penetration in the two countries is projected to be 44% and 57% respectively by the end of the year.
