Belgian cable operator Telenet is now looking at introducing HD channels before the summer of next year, according to CEO Duco Sickinghe. The new service should be well into place before the two major sports events next year, the European Football Championship and the Olympic Games in Beijing.
Telenet will be the third provider of HD in the Belgian market; at the moment the Interkabel consortium offers a bouquet of seven HD channels as part of their In-Di digital offer. DTH operator TV Vlaanderen also plans introduction of HD channels early 2008.
