Independent production company Off the Fence is to launch two online channels direct to consumers. The channels, Off the Fence Go Wild and Off the Fence Explore, will be distributed over the Joost broadband TV service.
Erik Schuit, head of distribution at Off the Fence, said the channels would include a wide range of programming. “This really does offer the next generation in TV viewing, combining the best aspects of traditional television viewing with internet community services and on-demand viewing where the long-term revenue projection looks very interesting.”
An initial 15 titles will be allocated to each channel by Off the Fence, which has previously made a number of co-productions with broadcasters including Animal Planet, National Geographic, BBC, Discovery, Voom, NHK, France 5, France 3, Arte, Canal Plus, BR, ZDF and NDR. The company has offices in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Bristol, UK and Capetown, South Africa.
