Spanish telecommunications company Abertis Infraestructuras has reportedly approached Portugal Telecom SGPS over a joint bid as part of Portugal’s DTT process.
According to Diario Economico, Abertis representatives have met with PT CEO Henrique Grandeiro. However, there has been no resolution as Albertis has yet to decide how it wishes to participate. Abertis, which is also a shareholder in Eutelsat Communications, is known to have an interest in participating in Portuguese DTT.
PT already runs the Meo triple play package over its ADSL network and is known to regard DTT as a good defensive move.
Comments on the DTT tender have to be with the regulator Anacom by October 15.
