Portugal Telecom chairman Henrique Granadeiro has said the company intends to compete against PT Multimedia, the telco’s cable subsidiary, due to be spun off in the next three to six months.
Diario de Noticias quoted Granadeiro as saying the company was also studying satellite television in addition to its bid for Portugal’s upcoming DTT licences. PT already runs the Meo triple play package over its ADSL network. Granadeiro described PT’s entry into DTT as a good defensive move that would secure broadband clients and maintain its position on triple play.
