Nelonen, also known as Channel 4 Finland, has signed a significant VOD rental agreement with Disney-ABC International Television. Viewers of Nelolen’s broadband TV service will be able to view episodes of Disney-ABC series just four days after they air in the US.
Episodes of Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, Lost and Desperate Housewives will be available from the end of September, the start of the US fall season, at a cost of €3 per episode.
The episodes will follow the US broadcast pattern – a formula that has seen other European broadcasters come unstuck when broadcasting the shows close to the original transmission date – when the US shows take a mid-season break for holidays or the coverage of an awards show.
