Major changes could take place in Polish broadcasting following parliamentary elections next month. The left-of-centre SLD, which is currently in opposition, has said that it will seek to ban politicians from being members of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) and scrap receiver licence fees. Earlier this week, KRRiT’s president Elzbieta Kruk left her post to stand as a candidate for the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party. The leading opposition party Civic Platform (PO) has meanwhile said that it will scrap the KRRiT if it comes to power. TNS OBOP shows PO (30%) and PiS (29%) running almost neck-and-neck in the latest opinion poll.
