Digital TV CEE, PRAGUE. The Entavio pay-TV platform model recently adopted in Germany “could be of relevance to Central and Eastern Europe” in the opinion of Alexander Oudendijk, SVP and chief commercial officer, SES Astra. While denying there are plans to introduce such a ‘satellite neutral platform’ in the region, he nevertheless believes it is something that cannot be ruled out, given the large number of DTH services present in several markets.
Oudendijk repeated the message Astra CEO Ferdinand Kayser delivered at IBC, stating the operator also plans to export its Entavio subscription TV platform to other countries in Eastern Europe. “Especially to those markets where there is no existing pay-TV platform, that fulfills the natural role of technology platform provider”, Kayser said at the time.
