Virgin Media is to add dynamic interactive content to the BBC radio stations available on its cable platform. The content is already available on the Freeview DTT platform and elements are a part of the DAB digital radio service.
“This is a key part of the BBC’s plan to enhance radio across new platforms and connects us with the huge audience listening to radio through their TV,” said Mark Friend, multiplatform and interactive controller for BBC Audio & Music.
Listeners will be able to access the content by pressing the red button on their digital remote while listening to BBC Radio. For example, BBC Radio 1 listeners can view entertainment news; BBC Radio 5 Live audiences see live news and sport headlines; and BBC 6 Music fans get ‘Now playing’ track details plus 6 Music news and chart info.
