Turkey’s leading mobile company Turkcell has secured a 20-year 3G licence for €321 million. According to agency reports, it was the only company to lodge a bid at an auction, with the three other Turkish mobile companies – Avea, Vodafone and Orange – deciding not to take part in the process. Turkcell is now poised to spend up to $480 million (€348.8 million) a year in developing its 3G network, which will offer subscribers broadband Internet access and mobile TV services.
