The privatisation of the Ukrainian incumbent telco Ukrtelecom will take place in 2008, according to the government minister Mykola Azarov. Speaking to the local press, he added that it should net the state up to UAH7 billion (€1.05 billion). The privatisation of Ukretelecom, which is 92.86% state-owned, was initially scheduled for Q1 this year but delayed. Both Russia’s Comstar UTS and the local holding company System Capital Management (SMS) were expected to bid and still remain in the frame to acquire what would be a 10% in the telco.
