London based Simply Media has announced that it plans to launch a series of channels targeting a 50+ demographic after acquiring content and mail order databases from Home Entertainment Company DDHE. Slated for a launch next year, the channels will be based on nostalgia.
The past year has seen Simply launch a series of successful women’s interest Internet television channels under the simply.tv umbrella, and recent months have seen the portfolio grow into the sporting arena with the acquisition and re-launch of Golfbug.tv. Alongside Simply.tv and Simply Sports, a new portal branded Simply Home Entertainment will be launched with the acquired library content, sitting well within the company’s aspirations within Internet TV. The new content and databases from DDHE will allow Simply to exploit future IPTV opportunities that have been previously unexplored.
The home entertainment aspect of the acquired library and mail order database will also enhance and compliment Simply’s existing consumer direct response businesses, which consists of four Sky shopping channels, various transactional websites and third party TV shopping airtime sales.
