SIDSA tuning IBC vistors phones to the BBC

August 23, 2007 18.24 Europe/London By Donald Koeleman

IBC 2007 (Stand 4.348 & IPTV/Mobile Zone 245)

The Spanish DVB-H technology vendor SIDSA will again build and operate the IBC DVB-H network this year, carrying live the BBC channels BBC One, BBC Two, BBC News 24, BBC Three, BBC Four, Cbeebies and CBBC to suitably equipped mobile phones. The network will carry the channels encrypted in the OMA BCAST standard. Encryption will meanwhile be provided by an as yet unnamed third party that is expected to launch its new identity at IBC.

SIDSA will also be showing its all-IP broadcast platform POLAR PLUS, used in the demo DVB-H network, for digital TV, IPTV, mobile TV, and broadband TV. It will also demonstrtae its KeyFly conditional access system, specifically designed for distribution of terrestrial networks over satellite links.

Originally a fabless chip designer/manufacturer SIDSA, the vendor will also launch a new licensible design for a DVB-SH (Satellite to Handhelds) chips, and a reference design for DVB-H receivers on a chip from companies that licensed SIDSA IP.
