Channel 4 launch spurs EPG rejig

August 21, 2007 10.46 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Channel 4 has launched its timeshifted +1 service, the first of the big five channels to do so, in the process reshuffling its position on the Sky Guide EPG. The public corporation has taken the positions in the 130s previously occupied by Life TV. It means that the new Channel 4+1 at 135 is followed consecutively by E4 (136), E4 +1 (137), More4 (138) and More4 +1 (139).  There are now three vacant channel positions before BBC HD at 143.

Life TV, which launched in October 2000, has now relaunched as Life One on channel 197, the undisclosed sum received for its EPG real estate clearly being more valuable than the continuity for its audience,

Significantly, Channel 4 has created separate versions of its new timeshifted channel to cover its six advertising regions.
