Virgin Media CEO Steve Burch has left the cablenet after only 18 months. A company statement said that Burch had decided to return to the United States for personal and family reasons. He will also step down from Virgin Media’s board.
Neil Berkett, Virgin Media’s COO, will take over as acting CEO while a replacement is sought.
Like so many so his predecessors, Burch’s tenure will not go down as a happy one. While he presided over the merger between NTL and Telewest and the acquisition of Virgin Mobile, there was the failed bid for ITV, and the continuing carriage fee dispute with BSkyB.
