Norwegian minister of culture Trond Giske has said he is disappointed that there are not more Nordic channels in the DTT basic package. “I miss Nordic channels in the basic package. However, it will still be a better offer for everybody. Even with a regular antenna you cannot get BBC, to put it like that,” he told Norwegian daily Aftenbladet.
Platform operator RiksTV has included TV2, TVNorge and its new female skewed Fem, TV3, TV2 Zebra, Discovery Channel, Disney Channel, The Voice TV, SportN, TV2 Filmkanalen, TV2 Nyhetskanalen, Viasat4, TVNorge2, National Geographic Channel, Animal Planet and BBC World in its so-called Rikpakken.
The first official DTT transmissions will commence in Rogaland on September 1 ahead of digital switchover on March 4, 2008.
NOK2.5 million is being invested in an information campaign targeting the 600,000 homes that use a terrestrial antenna for their television reception. An information website has been launched at digitaltvinorge.no.
