According to local reports, Farrell Meisel has been confirmed as the head of the News Corp.-backed Polish station TV Puls. A US citizen, he initially took up the post in May but had to relinquish it – albeit temporarily – last month whilst securing permission to work in Poland. Rupert Murdoch-backed News Corp. bought into TV Puls in June 2006 and has gradually been transforming it into a station capable of taking on TVP, Polsat and TVN, the three dominant players in Poland’s TV industry. One of TV Puls’s main strategies is to increase its still limited coverage of the country.
