Kula takes byte out of encoding time

August 16, 2007 02.29 Europe/London By Donald Koeleman

IBC 2007 (Stand 6.111)

Kulabyte will demonstrate the industry’s fastest video encoding solution, Kulabyte Professional Version 1.1.

The Kulabyte Professional product effectively presents a new paradigm for video encoding, as it is the first to leverage the power of multi-core video processing, enabling professionals to deliver cross-platform content with noticeably improved picture quality and bandwidth savings. Kulabyte Professional Version 1.1 includes a full suite of input and output container formats and audio output, and provides support for MainConcept H.264, MPEG-2, Windows Media 9 (WMV, VC-1, WM9 Advanced Profile, ASF) and FLV (Flash 8, VP6), among others.

Kulabyte will also launch a full suite of encoding products – Kulabyte Enhanced Encoding – at IBC 2007, which will include:

Kulabyte Professional 2.0 – two-core; for consumers and low-end encoding
Kulabyte Professional 3.0 – eight-core; includes support for generic capture cards
Kulabyte Professional 4.0 – 16-core; supports batch encoding, and streaming Flash, as well as one-to-many output streaming
Kulabyte Professional 5.0 – a server license that supports Windows Server; provides support for all codecs, including JPEG-2000.

The Kulabyte Professional Encoder is based on the company’s unique, patent-pending TimeSlice™ video encoding technology, which enables faster-than time video encoding while utilizing industry standard codec engines.

Kulabyte’s unique 2-pass variable bit rate (VBR) encoding, in both live and/or on-demand broadcasting, enables media companies to realize superior picture quality and optimized bandwidth utilization.

Using Kulabyte Professional Release 1.1, media creators can encode, and distribute digital content at speeds more than 12 times faster than industry-standard codec times at comparable prices.

Kulabyte Professional 1.1 enables batch encoding for large-scale encoding sessions, and delivers 100% multi-core optimization, delivering a highly efficient software solution.
