Speaking exclusively to Broadband TV News, the Romanian incumbent telco Romtelecom has revealed that its DTH platform Dolce had 250,000 subscribers at the end of last month. Dolce made its debut late last year in a market already served by DigiTV, Focus Sat, Max TV and Boom TV. It currently offers subscribers a basic package of 45 channels for €3.90 a month, with premium/additional packages also available. According John Younis, the general manager of Romtelecom’s Video Services Division, Dolce will be adding more channels later this year. Significantly, it will also be starting an IPTV trial later this year, with a view to launching a commercial operation in 2008.
