The complete switchover of analogue to digital television on the Italian island of Sardinia will take place in March 2008, according to Italy’s Communications Minister, Paolo Gentiloni. He said that the Government’s three priorities are the “opening of frequencies, production of new programmes and giving preference to local TV channels”.
According to Gentiloni, DTT is being watched by 2-3% of the Italian population and by 45% in the Cagliari area. The audience data for the DTT channels range from 0.6% nationwide and 5% in the capital of Sardinia.
