The BBC Trust is to launch a Public Value Test into the BBC’s plans to launch a Gaelic language digital TV service. The channel would be run by BBC Scotland in partnership with the Gaelic Media Service.
Commissioning for the new service is already underway and if approved it will be on the air by March 2008. The consultation will run in parallel with a separate study by the communications regulator Ofcom.
Both tests will commence on August 16.
