The Digital TV Group has released version 5 of The D Book, the code of practice that outlines the requirements for interoperability in the UK DTT market.
The D Book 5.0 is the first major update to the publication since 2004. New topics include the signalling for the recently launched Freeview Playback digital video recorder and the latest version of the MHEG-5 1.06 UK profile used for the application programming interface.
Newer technologies including high definition, enhanced return channel and possible IPTV and hybrid services are currently being studied by DTG working groups and will be included in future upgrades as appropriate.
The rate of developments in the sector has led the DTG to make future updates on a regular basis each July.
