Strong subscriber growth from Canal Digital in the Norwegian market have helped Telenor Broadcast increase its revenues by 14% in the financial quarter ending June 30, 2007 compared to the second quarter of 2006.
Telenor Broadcast recorded revenues of NOK 1,776m (€224.87m) and EBITDA of NOK 462m.
Subscriptions within the Norwegian market increased by 8%, and with a modest increase in Denmark of 3%, was more than able to offset a fall in Sweden of 5%.
A total of 34,000 new subscribers were added in the second quarter. DTH added 13,000 to bring the total to 934,000, while cable added another 10,000, reaching 697,000. APRU increased across both platforms as subscribers took advantage of new added value services including HD and multiroom subscriptions.
Canal Digital now has 26,000 subscribers to its HD service and 94,000 to its Multiroom value add.
Churn at 15% is low within the context of the Nordic market.
