Sweden’s MTG has again posted double-digit growth for its pay-TV operations in the latest quarter. While net sales in the Nordic region were, at SEK882 million (€96.07 million), 13% higher than in the corresponding period last year, those in Central and Eastern Europe rose by 14% year-on-year to SEK553 million. Operating income in Q2 in the regions meanwhile amounted to SEK160 million and SEK129 million, representing year-on-year increases of 14% and 9% respectively. The number of Viasat Broadcasting pay-TV subscribers in the Nordic region stood at 746,000 as of the end of June 2007, up 5,000 on three months earlier. Of these, 709,000 were DTH (up 1,000) and 37,000 broadband (33,000). The number of DTH premium subscribers meanwhile grew significantly in the Baltic Republics in Q2 – up from 96,000 to 117,000 – and there were 23,060,000 mini pay-TV subscriptions in CEE as of the end of this June.
