The Polish public broadcaster TVP will launch a channel aimed specifically at neighbouring Belarus this November. According to local reports, satellite-delivered TV Bialorus will be on air for 16 hours daily and employ around 35 people in Warsaw and a further 30 in Belarus itself. Start up costs of the service have been put at PLN16 million (€4.26 million). Belarus has a large ethnic Polish population, and the country’s president Aleksander Lukaszenko has already described TV Bialorus as a “stupid and unfriendly project.”
