The German ProSiebenSat.1 group will buy the regional commercial broadcaster Puls TV in Vienna. The channel broadcasts regional programming 24 hours a day and hopes to extend its transmissions to satellite, as well as acquire a licence to broadcast on DTT. At present Puls TV is only available on cable.
The acquisition will be subject to regulatory approval; the station is currently privately held and no details have been issued about the value of the transaction. As a producer, Puls TV is already active for the Austrian version of ProSieben and Kabel 1, providing them with programmes such as “ProSieben AustriaNews”, “Tonight tv”, “Austria TopTalk” and the daily breakfast show “Café Puls”.
The takeover also means the ProSiebenSat.1 group will add another country to its growing number of territories served following the acquisition of SBS Broadcasting, bringing the total number to 14.
