The French DVB-T/H chip developer DiBcom, which primarily caters for the mobile TV reception market, has raised €20 million in new equity from Natixis and existing investors. Nataxis came up with €10 million, with 3i, Cipio Partners, Convergent Capital, Crédit Agricole Private Equity, Intel Capital, Partech International, SGAM Alternative Investments, UMC Capital, and WI Harper providing the remaining €10 million, on top of the €40 million they had invested since the company was founded in 2000.
DiBcom’s latest product will be used by Adobe controlled Pinnacle Systems in its new USB stick receiver for notebooks, the Pinnacle PCTV(TM) DVB-T Flash Stick. DiBcom’s “two-in-one” DIB7070-P chipset includes a tuner and demodulator and uses diversity reception to enhance reception of DVB-T signals.
“This highly innovative device is the first commercial product that maximizes the potential of DiBcom’s DIB7070-P – the ultimate Mobile TV technology for notebook PCs. The chipset offers a Diversity mode (dual antennas) which enables optimal indoor DVB-T reception within urban homes and apartments”, DiBcom said in a statement.
