There is confusion in Romania over the election of a new president for the National Audiovisual Council (CNA), the country’s main regulatory body. Following the death of Ralu Filip in May, Valentin Nicolae provisionally occupied the post up until last week, when parliament declared him the new president. However, Nicolae resigned yesterday and the council has decided to delay the election of a new president. All this has come at a bad time for the council, which is also trying to choose a new head for the national public broadcaster TVR.
