German public broadcaster ZDF has said that from today it will only broadcast in 16:9 widescreen. It is the first German broadcaster to transmit solely in the widescreen format. Last year, ZDF said it had broadcast over 2,000 programmes in 16:9 or about one quarter of its output. With the addition of all entertainment programming, news and current affairs ZDF has completed the transformation.
