Russia’s Golden Telecom is to use a platform supplied by Veraz to upgrade its TDM into a next generation network (NGN). The move will see Veraz ControlSwitch Internet softswitch, along with Veraz I-Gate 4000 Pro and I-Gate 4000 Edge media gateways, deployed across the telco’s entire Federal Transition Network (FTN). Golden Telecom lists Altimo (26.9%) and Telenor (18.4%) as its largest shareholders and its interests include Corbina Telecom, a company whose FTTH network serves 2.6 million apartments in six cities including Moscow and St Petersburg. Veraz is meanwhile represented in Russia by the global infrastructure company ECI Telecom.
