German general entertainment channel Tele 5 has won a regional DTT licence to broadcast in the state of Nord-Rhine Westfalia. The TM-TV GmbH group has been awarded the licence by the state’s media authority LfM-Medienkommission.
Tele 5 will take the place of thematic channel Terra Nova, which has handed back its licence and stopped broadcasting due to high distribution costs. Tele 5 will be available in the areas of Cologbne, Bonn, Dusseldorf and the Ruhrgebiet. Thanks to must-carry rules of the state of Nord-Rhine Westfalia, Tele 5 will now also be carried on all analogue cable networks in the state.
