According to a report just published by the consultancy PMR, the telecom markets in Russia, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic are likely to grow by €13.7 billion, or around 8%, between 2007-2010 to a total value of €52.5 billion. Russia will remain by far the largest market in the region and continue to be the driving force, with operators in all four countries increasingly focused on data services and content provision. There will also be significant growth in broadband: penetration averaged only 4.4% in 2006, with Hungary claiming the highest rate (12%) and Russia the lowest (1.9%).
