Portugal’s TV Cabo is to invest an estimated €15 million into the upgrade of its Nagra conditional access system. The card swapout, expected to commence in June, will cover around 800,000 TV Cabo subscribers to both cable and satellite services. Although in the past the Nagra system has come under scrutiny for breaches in its security system, these have been quickly closed and the TV Cabo upgrade is thought to be no more than standard procedure.
The process will begin in the cities of Lisbon and Porto, though will no doubt be of interest to viewers in Norfolk, UK, where Portuguese migrants clearly display the TV Cabo logo on their imported satellite dishes.
