Telenor Satellite Broadcasting has expanded its Multi-Service Network (MSNW) into Sofia, Bucharest and Budapest. The move will allow operators, though especially broadcasters, the opportunity to backhaul occasional and permanent feeds to Europe and even the US. It will also provide Telenor with the opportunity to offer satellite and fibre solutions to new and developing markets in Central and Eastern Europe. Telenor already serves the region with one degree West, its clients – Digi TV and Focus Sat (Romania) – claiming a total of around a million subscribers. Its coverage will be enhanced still further following the launch of Thor 5, which is imminent.
