Finland’s largest cable operator Welho has launched an IPTV service for households in and around the capital Helsinki. It means that pay-TV services from the operator that have previously been restricted to the cabled areas are now available off-net.
Welho has chosen a system based on the Ortikon Ace IPTV middleware. The scalable service is also ready for Welho’s planned interactive services. The company has also chosen Motorola IPTV receivers and conditional access from Conax.
The IPTV network has been based on open standards in order to maximise the interoperability with third party technologies.
