Swiss cable operator Cablecom said it is experiencing an increased interest in digital television. In the past two months 39,000 new digital homes were connected following the introduction of a new digital offer with more channels available at a lower price. This represents a growth rate three times faster than before.
Cablecom has 155,000 digital subscribers or about 10% of the total number of homes served. The operator offers set-top boxes for rent (6 francs per month or 20 francs for a PVR) or for sale (150 francs). A basic digital tier of 90 channels is included in the analogue subscription fee, which costs 15 francs bringing the total to 21 francs a month.
On top of that Cablecom offers five different tiers for 7.50 euro each or 22.50 euro for a buble of all five. Also, various ethnic channels are available a la carte.
