Swisscom is to sell the Hungarian broadcasting and transmission company Antenna Hungaria to France’s TDF for SF540 million (€327.5 million). The Swiss telco acquired a 75% stake in Antenna Hungaria in July 2005 and subsequently increased its stake to 100%. The money it will now make from the sale to TDF is likely to be put towards its €3.7 billion bid for Italy’s FastWeb. Antenna Hungaria operates an MMDS service named Antenna Digital that serves Budapest and environs, as well as an experimental DTT platform serving Budapest and Kabhegy near Lake Balaton. TDF meanwhile already has a stake in the Estonian national transmission company Levira.
