The Russian DTH platform NTV-Plus has chosen OpenTV’s Core 2 technology for its new HD service. Launched in late April, it currently offers three channels – HD Kino, HD Sport and HD Life – and is expected to have up to 20,000 subscribers by the end of the year. The service also employs Viaccess conditional access and Thomson set-top boxes with ST7100 chipsets.
In its first quarter financials, released Tuesday, OpenTV reported a 6% increase in revenues to $24.9 million ($18.37m) and a net loss of $3.1m.
