Mediaset Premium, the Italian broadcaster’s terrestrial pay-TV service, has recorded a further 300,000 rechargeable cards sold since the beginning of the year. Around 2.2 million cards were also recharged with additional credits. Revenues doubled from €22.8 million in 2006 to €45.3 million in Q1 2007. The business is already profitable.
The DTT service, including football from Serie A and Serie B, Grande Fratello (the Italian version of Big Brother), and a selection of premiering movies had sold over 1 million cards during 2006.
Mediaset announced an operating profit of €964.9 million and a net profit of €124.5m. The Mediaset channels continue to be the market leaders among the 15-64 age group.
