The Romanian incumbent telco Romtelecom has announced plans to invest €500 million on a Next Generation Network (NGN) and the provision of broadband Internet access. Romtelecom is majority owned by Greece’s OTE and operates a DTH platform named Dolce that had at least 60,000 subscribers as of this February. It began the year with 89,000 ADSL customers and is expected to shortly launch an IPTV service.
